A graduate of the Tulsa District Park Ranger Training Program was recognized in a ceremony Feb. 7 at the district headquarters.
Ranger Jeff Walker, Skiatook Lake graduated the program, which is designed to manage recruitment for the district’s natural resource management program and prepare trainees to work as a park ranger.
Trainees in the two year program must complete a variety of formal education courses and complete four, 30 day temporary duty assignments which allow them to gain varied exposure to USACE and the NRM program.
In order to graduate, they must be recommended by their immediate supervisor and pass an oral examination conducted by members of the Ranger Training Committee, which consists of 7 members. This is intended to ensure their knowledge of the duties & skills needed to serve the Regiment, Army, and Nation as a Park Ranger/Natural Resource Specialist.
Col Mike Teague, Tulsa District commander, presented the certificate.
