2013 Leadership Development Program Kicks Off

The Leadership Development Program II (LDP) held its official 2013 kick off meeting January 22 and 23, 2013 at the Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers District Office.

The program provides a means for developing and enhancing leadership skills to better meet the changing needs of the USACE. Class members will learn how to improve areas of performance through training, self development, and on-the-job experience to prepare them for leadership, supervisory and management roles in the USACE.

The 2013 LDP II class is comprised of 9 Tulsa District employees from a variety of backgrounds. Here are brief biographies of the class members:

·        David Blackmore, Engineering and Construction Division. David is a civil/geotechnical engineer working in the Dam Safety Center, Infrastructure Section where he is involved in a wide range of both routine and non-routine dam safety projects. 

·        Kent Bray, Engineering and Construction Division. Kent is an electrical engineer, currently working at Ft. Sill where he serves as a technical resource for Military Construction and Operations and Maintenance projects for Fort Sill, Altus Air Force Base, and Sheppard AFB. 

·        Debra Overstreet, Real Estate Division, Management and Disposal Branch. Debra is an advanced certified paralegal working as a realty specialist and is responsible for the management and compliance of new and existing civil works outgrants.  

·        Courtney Perry, Tulsa Contracting Division. Courtney previously worked as an administrative support assistant for Engineering and Construction Division. She is now the administrative officer for the Contracting Division and is currently responsible for formulating and analyzing Contracting Division’s budget as well as processing requests for personnel actions and providing human resource guidance regarding benefits, retirement, awards, and other HR related functions.   

·        Matthew Piazza, Engineering and Construction Division. Matthew is a hydraulic engineer working as a team member of the Mapping, Modeling, and Consequence Center and also provides hydraulic engineering support as a member of the Southwestern Division national dam safety risk assessment cadre.

·        Tammy Piazza, Engineering and Construction Division. Tammy is a hydraulic engineer working in the Water Management Section, Hydraulics and Hydrology Branch where she is responsible for control and management of several critical flood control projects.

·        Lindsey Sherrell, Operations Division. Lindsey is a natural resources specialist at Keystone Lake and is responsible for Shoreline Management permits, volunteer programs, agriculture and grazing leases, law enforcement contracts, and manages the Salt Creek North Public Use Area. 

·        Braden West, Engineering and Construction Division. Braden is a civil engineer working in the Construction Branch at the Tulsa Resident Office where he serves as a project engineer managing the progress, schedules, budgets, and quality assurance activities for several key civil works projects.  

·        Cara Wulf, Office of Counsel. Cara is an attorney and is responsible for a variety of legal services, including processing tort and other non-contractual claims, contract review, real estate support, and other general law matters.

The diverse background of the 2013 LDP II team members will provide a unique opportunity to network with peers from all areas within the Corps of Engineers.
