TD 2023-5.1, Pool 16 Demolition Closure Update

NOTICE OF SCHEDULED DEMOLITION & RIVER CLOSURE
HIGHWAY 62 BRIDGE NM 392.5
SCHEDULE ACCELERATON DUE TO WEATHER

Pool No. 16 NM 392.5 will be closed to Navigation traffic from 0845 to 0915 Monday, March 20th, 2023, to allow for the demolition, by explosive device of  the Eastbound Highway 62 Bridge bridge piers located in the river. Navigation Channel will be closed for detonation but debris removal should not affect navigation.

SCHEDULE FOR DEMOLITION HAS BEEN MOVED UP ONE DAY TO MONDAY, MARCH 20TH, 0845 TO 0915 DUE TO WEATHER CONCERNS. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation Contractor will be detonating and dropping the bridge piers. Navigation traffic will be closed for 30 minutes with no less than 15 minutes prior to and during the detonation of explosives, the Contractor will have flagmen to warn river traffic before blasting. Flagmen shall be stationed in radio equipped boats approximately one-half mile upstream and downstream of the bridge to warn approaching river traffic of the impending action and obstructions in the river.

The closure listed above is scheduled to reopen to Navigation traffic as stated, but unforeseen problems could require additional time to complete operations. Waterway users are asked to check with Lock No. 16 for the latest information and should schedule their activities accordingly.
