Forget your life jacket?? Borrow one from us....FREE!!!

At most Corps lakes you can find a life jacket loaner station. Borrowing a jacket is EASY!

1.  Locate the loaner board
2.  Find the proper fitting size
3.  WEAR IT
4.  Return it

1998 through 2011, There were 258 water related fatalities in the Tulsa District.

24.0% of fatalities were alcohol related = Alcohol was a factor 1 in every 4.3 drownings.

90% of drowning victims were not wearing their PFD. Only 10.0% of drowning victims were wearing their PFD.

In 21.3% of drownings, the victim did not wear a PFD,however one had been available to them.

88% of drownings were male victims...

Age at time of drowning:

1-16 years old - 15.2%
17-35 years old - 40.4%
36-55 years old - 25.2%
56-80 years old - 17.0%

When are the drownings occurring :

Fridays - 15.2%
Saturdays - 37.4%*
*20% of the drownings that occurred on Saturday happen between 2pm and 8pm
Sundays - 19.6%
Mondays - 6.5%
Tuesdays - 8.2%
Wednesdays - 7.0%
Thursdays - 6.0%

Fridays and Saturdays = 57%
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays = 72%
