Copan Lake offers the visitors extensive opportunities for a memorable outdoor recreation experience. Overnight accommodations, services and supplies are available at convenient locations on access roads leading to the project. FISHING AND HUNTING: With the large uncleared areas and artificial fish shelters that were constructed prior to impoundment, the lake offers excellent habitats for many species of game fish such as largemouth bass, white crappie, channel and flathead catfish and various species of sunfish. The lake has also received an experimental stocking of the hybrid cross between the white bass and the striped bass, more commonly called the "hybrid". PICNICKING AND SWIMMING: Copan Point is the lake's day use area. This park offers a designated beach area, beautiful picnic sites overlooking the water, and a nicely constructed boat launching ramp. In accordance with new policy there are no beverages containing alcohol allowed within 50 yards of the beach area. |
