Spring wet weather is here. Skiatook Lake is located on Hominy Creek in Osage County, Oklahoma. The dam site is at mile 14.3 of Hominy Creek approximately five miles west of Skiatook, Oklahoma. Gentle rolling hills of Blackjack and Post Oak interspersed with Tallgrass Prairie surround beautiful Skiatook Lake. The meandering shoreline is accentuated by steep picturesque bluffs which offer spectacular views for the recreation user. Boating, hiking, swimming, camping, picnicking as well as hunting and fishing are all popular activities at the lake. Whitetail deer, quail, rabbit, and squirrel are plentiful around the lake and some 8,000 acres are open to hunters wishing to pursue these species. Sport fishing also offers many hours of enjoyment for the visitor. Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, hybrid striped bass, walleye, black and white crappie, channel catfish, and several species of sunfish are plentiful in Skiatook Lake.
