TO INTERESTED PARTIES

 The Tulsa District, in coordination with the City of Edmond, Oklahoma, has assessed the environmental effects resulting from the proposed construction and operation of a multi-use trail system around Arcadia Lake, Oklahoma.  The proposed trail would be paved, vary in width from 12- to 18-feet, and accommodate varying user groups of pedestrians, joggers, cyclists, and equestrians.  The trail would be constructed and operated by the City of Edmond, Oklahoma and would initially include an approximate 3.1 mile section along the north side of the lake.  As funds and design information become available, the trail could ultimately be expanded to approximately 20 miles in length and encompass an area circling the lake.

A final environmental assessment (EA) addressing impacts associated with this action has been completed and is available at: 

NEPA Notices

 The assessment was prepared in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regulations 33 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 230, Policy and Procedures for Implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).  It was determined this action would cause no significant adverse impacts on the natural or human environment.  As such, an environmental impact statement will not be prepared.  A copy of the signed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) is enclosed for your information.  

 For the remaining approximate 17 miles of trail, a conceptual alignment of the trail corridor is assessed in the final EA.  If the remaining trail is funded and site specific details  identified and developed, should the trail be aligned such that it is substantially different in design or outside the corridor evaluated in this EA, a supplement to this EA will be prepared by the City of Edmond and circulated to agencies and the public, to fulfill the requirements of NEPA.
