    Service opportunities abound at four Oklahoma lakes for NPLD

    Day use fees for boat ramps and swim beaches will be waived at all Tulsa District lakes and at Corps lakes nationwide. The Kaw, Keystone, Eufaula and Fort Supply project offices are hosting volunteer cleanup events in conjunction with NPLD. The National Park Service established National Public Lands Day in 1994 to promote environmental stewardship and to encourage appreciation of public lands. NPLD is held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, the event has become the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort.

    Michael Tate spent 18 weeks assisting the John Redmond Lake Office in Burlington, Kansas. Tate shadowed the staff and participated in several projects including debris removal, plumbing installation and GIS real property surveys.
