Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineer contractors work to construct a two bay hangar for the Boeing KC-46A at Tinker Air Force Base, August 15, 2018.  Constructed on a Boeing 767 airframe, the Pegasus is taller, longer and has a larger wingspan than the 707-based airframe of the KC-135 Stratotanker.  Construction on the multi-phase KC-46A project at Tinker is expected to run through fiscal year 2029, with final construction providing hangar space for 14 separate KC-46A aircraft. Tulsa District Commander, Col. Christopher A. Hussin watches as Tulsa County Levee Commissioner, Todd Kilpatrick signs the Feasibility Study Cost Sharing Agreement between the Tulsa District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The federal government has allocated $3 million to fund the total cost of the two year study, which will help the Corps of Engineers identify flood risk reduction solutions for the levee system.

Since 2012, 83 lives have been lost due to drowning at Tulsa District reservoirs or recreation areas. None of the 14 drowning victims in 2017 were wearing life jackets. 

So far in 2018, five deaths by drowning have occurred in Tulsa District Reservoirs.

Workers will begin making improvements to parking areas and roadways on Oologah Lake beginning with the Hawthorne Day Use entry road and parking lot, May 9. These efforts may result in temporary inconveniences or delays to lake visitors.
