Welcome to Canton Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers welcomes you to Canton Lake.  Everyone is invited to use the 22,800 acres of land and water, however, please remember these resources are shared by all and care should be taken to preserve them for future visitors.

Canton Lake’s purpose is to provide flood risk management, water supply, fish and wildlife conservation and of course, recreation.  Since its impoundment more than 60 years ago, it has been enjoyed by millions. The lake offers extensive opportunity for outdoor recreation activities.  Its gently sloping sandy beach is an open invitation for swimmers and sunbathers.  Water skiing is popular on the broad expanse of water paralleling the dam where winds are subdued.  Canton Lake is found to be very popular with users of personal watercraft and other boaters as well.  The lake is famous for its abundance of walleye with sand bass, crappie and catfish not far behind in popularity. There are excellent hunting opportunities, with deer hunting being the most popular.  More than 240 campsites are available for your enjoyment, including some with 50-amp electric service and water hookups.  Services and supplies are available from businesses in the towns of Canton and Longdale which are only a couple of miles from the lake, businesses along the lake's access roads and at the commercial concession, the Overlook Café, located at the south end on the Canton Dam.

Inquiries regarding Canton Lake and its uses are welcomed.  Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
