    Corps rangers stress safety for Fourth of July

    Park rangers at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District lakes will be out in force over the Fourth of July holiday conducting boat safety checks and educating the public about water safety.

    Corps returns to 24/7 lock operations on McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District will return the operation of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System to 24 hours a day, 7 days per week beginning July 1. Since October 2012, lock maintenance closures have been conducted for four hours daily at the Webbers Fall, Chouteau and Newt Graham lock and dams during which time no vessels have been locked.
  • New mechanical systems to help trout fishery below Tenkiller Dam

    The stream below Tenkiller Dam in Okla. is home to a popular trout fishery; however, during the 2011 drought, low dissolved oxygen levels, and high water temperatures resulted in a fish kill of both trout and other types of fish. As a result of a multi-agency effort, a two-part mechanical solution was developed to prevent further fish kills below the dam.
