— The Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers welcomes visitors to the recreation areas at Copan Lake, of which all are open except Blaine Park campground which is closed due to construction activities.

Corps-operated recreation areas at Copan Lake are unaffected by the decision of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department to close several state parks, including Wah-Sha-She State Park which is near Copan, and is located on Lake Hulah.

"When news got out about the closing of some of the state parks, including the one near Copan, the impression was that the recreation areas at Copan Lake were closing, and nothing is further from the truth," said Copan Lake manager Steve Armstrong. "We have had people calling and canceling reservations and the number of visitors has decreased dramatically. We want everyone to know that the Corps-operated areas at Copan are open and we want visitors to come out and have a fun, safe experience."

The Corps operates five multi-use recreation areas which offer a combination of overnight and day-use opportunities to the visiting public.

The lake level is currently slightly above normal.

Remember to practice safe boating when visiting any lake or river and always wear your life jacket.
