Temporary moratorium issued for new shoreline management use permits at Eufaula Lake

EUFAULA– The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces a temporary moratorium on new shoreline management use permit requests beginning May 16 at Eufaula Lake.

– The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces a temporary moratorium on new shoreline management use permit requests beginning May 16 at Eufaula Lake.

The moratorium is needed as part of the environmental impact statement required for a review and update of the Eufaula Lake shoreline management plan and master plan.

During this process, environmental conditions must remain static to ensure accurate data is collected to complete the EIS in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act.

Applications received after May 16 will be returned to the requesting party with an explanation why their application cannot be processed. The public will be notified when the Eufaula Lake Office will begin accepting new shoreline management use requests. Once a date is set for accepting new applications, they will be processed on a first come first serve basis.

This moratorium will not impact existing work that is currently approved by an existing shoreline use permit and only pertains to new applications submitted after May 16.
