TULSA – The swim beach at Tall Chief Cove on Skiatook Lake will close June 15 due to low lake levels brought on by the continuing drought.
The swim beach at Tall Chief Cove on Skiatook Lake will close June 15 due to low lake levels brought on by the continuing drought.
Skiatook Lake is nearly 6 feet below its normal pool elevation and the lake level continues to fall.
"Relocating the delineated swimming area to deeper water is not a safe option due to underwater obstructions in the area, the Tall Chief Creek channel, and the nearby boating lane," said Greg Bersche, park ranger, Skiatook Lake.
Lake levels and conditions will be monitored, and the swim beach will reopen when it is considered safe.
