— Effective immediately, Canton Lake is reopened for boat traffic, but not all ramps at the lake are open because of the low lake level and the closure of Canadian Campground.

Boaters will be able to access the lake from boat ramps located at the Big Bend and C & A Recreation Areas as well as the Blaine Park (Kidney) boat ramp. The boat ramps at the Longdale Area are closed due to the low lake level.

It is imperative that boaters use extreme caution when loading and unloading at the open ramps due to the low lake level. Boaters should also be alert for changing conditions when out on the water, including changing lake level, windy conditions, and the potential for hazardous debris.

Boat ramps in the Canadian Campground area and the Canadian Day Use Area itself will remain closed until further notice.

Campgrounds at Big Bend, Sandy Cove, Longdale, and Fairview are open. The Sandy Cove day-use area and swim beach are open.

All visitors to Canton lake recreation areas are urged to use caution in storm-damaged areas.

A tornado tore through Canton Lake May 24 causing significant damage to Canadian Campground and depositing a large amount of debris in the lake. Boating traffic had been prohibited on the lake because of the debris. The Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been able to determine that it is now safe enough to let boating resume at the lake.
