W.D. Mayo Lock and Dam No. 14 closed due to high water

TULSA — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces the closure of W. D. Mayo Lock and Dam No. 14 to Navigation traffic due to high flows on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System.

Colonel Richard A. Pratt, commander, Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will be at W.D. Mayo today at 4:30 p.m. to answer any questions media might have about the closure and the Tulsa District’s efforts at flood risk management.

W. D. Lock and Dam is located 20 miles west of Fort Smith, Arkansas on the Arkansas River. Media members who intend to visit are asked to contact the Tulsa District Public Affairs Office prior to arrival in order coordinate entry into the site.
