U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awards tainter gate repair contract for Copan Lake

TULSA — The Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a contract to repair tainter gates and wire rope at Copan Lake, Sept. 30.

McCormick Industrial Abatement Services, Inc. of Little Rock, Arkansas was awarded the $1.3 million contract.

The notice to proceed on repair activities will be issued following receipt and approval of performance and payment bonds and upon the request of the Tulsa District field office at Copan Lake.

Copan Lake was authorized by the Flood Control Act of 1962. Construction of the dam began in 1972 and the project was placed in operation in 1983. Copan Lake’s missions include flood risk management, water supply, water quality control, recreation and fish and wildlife.
