Temporary closure of State Highway 151 over Keystone Dam

The Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close traffic to the State Highway 151 bridge over Keystone Dam August 22 to September 1 to study the rock abutments and materials used to construct the dam. Keystone Dam was constructed between 1957 to 1964. Access to W. Wekiwa Road on the north side of the dam, and the off road vehicle area on the south side of the dam will be available for visitors. Keystone Dam will continue to operate as normal as the closure only affects the bridge.

The Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close State Highway 151 over Keystone Dam to study the bedrock and internal components of the earthen berm from August 22 to September 1, 2016.

Traffic across Keystone Dam will be blocked but visitors can access Keystone State Park and Whitewater Off-Road Vehicle Area on the south side of Keystone Dam from SH 151. West Wekiwa Road on the north side of Keystone Dam will be accessible from US 64/ US 412.

Engineers will determine the condition of the rock beneath the dam in the rock abutments and materials used to seal the rock during the dam’s construction from 1957 to 1964.

The closure only affects the roadway above the dam. Keystone Dam will continue supporting hydropower and flood risk management operations while the roadway is closed.
