TULSA – Repairs to Copan Dam’s flood control gates and spillway embankment, which require the closure of State Highway 10 over Copan Dam, will likely continue through November 2017 depending upon weather conditions.
These necessary repair efforts require the continued closure of State Highway 10 until repairs are completed.
The Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recognizes that this road closure inconveniences Copan and the surrounding communities but it is necessary to accomplish timely repairs and ensure the safety of the public and workers.
Flood Gate repairs, which include detailed inspection and testing of gate integrity to include weld repairs, must be accomplished from the top of the bridge deck and roadway. Downstream embankment repairs are necessary to correct significant erosion concerns that have compromised portions of the roadway and guardrail across the dam and leading up to the gate repair work area.
