    A view of the new facilities at the Canadian “A” campground at Canton Lake. The pads, shower and toilet facility, and playground were rebuilt after a tornado churned through the area May 24, 2011, destroying the previous facilities.

    New boat ramp ready, other facilities almost complete at tornado-damaged area of Canton Lake

    The newly constructed boat ramp and parking area in the Canadian Day Use Area of Canton Lake is open for use. The ramp is longer and deeper than other ramps at the lake and should be usable for most boat launching, even if the lake level approaches a record low.

    Visitors to Canton Lake, Okla., will find new restroom facilities at the Canadian “A” north and south campgrounds. The facilities replace the ones that were destroyed by a May 24, 2011 tornado.

    Changes coming to Canadian Recreation Area at Canton Lake

    It has been more than a year and a half since a devastating tornado ripped through the Canadian Recreation Area at Canton Lake. The tornado caused significant damage to the area when it tore through the recreation area May 24, 2011, resulting in the indefinite closure of the campground. Changes are on the horizon.
