    Low lake levels at Skiatook lake make bluff jumping even more dangerous

    Skiatook Lake is still more than six feet below normal. A huge safety concern exists this summer for lake visitors making the decision to engage in the unlawful activity of bluff jumping. Unaware of the lower lake level, it is feared that many jumpers may simply return to their favorite rock and make what could be a fatal decision to jump. This past weekend, this fear became a reality as a young man lost his life at the lake after bluff jumping.
  • Rangers and troopers again able to reward kids for wearing life vests

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park rangers in Oklahoma and Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Patrol troopers will be rewarding children caught wearing life vests at areas they patrol.

    Taking water safety to the troops

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division water safety team held its division-wide water safety event as part of the Wings over McConnell 2012 Open House and Air Show Sept. 29 & 30 at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas. More than two dozen team members from the division and its four districts (Tulsa, Little Rock, Galveston and Ft. Worth), as well as the the Kansas City District and the National Water Safety Team staffed a 150 foot by 100 foot area during the two day event visited by more than 100 thousand military members and their dependents who attended the Open House and Air Show.
