TULSA - The Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to monitor the impact of the heavy rainfall of the past 24 hours on Corps-managed lakes and reservoirs. As of 9:00 am, March 20, 2012 the most highly impacted Corps lakes in the Tulsa District were those located in the Lower Grand River and Lower Arkansas River Basins. Fort Gibson has so far received about 5 inches of rainfall on its watershed and the lake level is rising. This will result in the closure of some of the lower campsites. Lake Office personnel are planning for those campsite closures and have also activated their downstream call plan.
At this time, no SWT lake or reservoir flood pool is more than 20 percent full.
The Tulsa District USACE is prepared to respond to this severe weather event if necessary. Corps projects are performing as designed for flood risk reduction and the Corps is reaching out to partners and stands ready to offer support as needed.
Information about lake and reservoir levels can be found at http://www.swt.usace.army.mil/ at the bottom of the page under the heading Lake Conditions. Click on the small white arrow in the blue box to the right of the lake name for current readings for the lake.
Another information update will be provided by the Tulsa District USACE at 4:00 pm, March 20, 2012.
