Eufaula Draft Environmental Impact Statement available for public review

TULSA – The Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Eufaula Lake Shoreline Management Plan Revision and Master Plan Supplement has been completed and is available for public review and comment.

 

The document can be downloaded from the Tulsa District website, www.swt.usace.army.mil and it is available for review at the Eufaula Lake project office. Copies were also sent to the Checotah, McAlester, Eufaula, and Henryetta public libraries. Contact those libraries for availability.

 

Public comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement are requested and will be included with and addressed in a Final Environmental Impact Statement which will be circulated for further review. Comments must be received by Monday, Jan. 21, 2013. They may be sent to Mr. Jeff Knack, CESWT-PE-E 1645 S. 101st E. Ave. Tulsa, OK 74128. They may also be sent by e-mail to jeff.knack@usace.army.mil or by fax at 918-669-7546 or submitted via private message to the district’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/usacetulsa.

 

The Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Eufaula Lake Shoreline Management Plan Revision and Master Plan Supplement describes the land and resource categories potentially affected by federal management actions at the Lake. The purpose of the proposed update to the Shoreline Management Plan and the Master Plan supplement is to provide for lake management that is predictable and equitable. The proposed update needs to be responsive to recreation demand and the public interest and that provide for stewardship of natural and cultural resources. This Draft Environmental Impact Statement analyzes alternatives that revise the Shoreline Management Plan and the Master Plan supplement and it reviews specific requests for zoning and for a lease of government land (Carlton Landing).
