Tulsa District hosts Meet the Corps Day

TULSA, Okla.-  U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District key staff will meet with 75 businesses during its Meet the Corps Day, Wednesday, Feb. 6 at the Tulsa Technology Center- Lemley Campus, 3638 S Memorial Drive.

This event is a small business outreach event that allows attendees to learn about the Tulsa District, its missions, and future contract opportunities that may be available. The event will begin at 10 a.m. with briefings from Corps staff members in various mission areas including emergency management, operations, engineering and construction, dam safety, environmental, and military programs. These briefings are intended to educate businesses about the type of work the district may be seeking and how it can fit into what their business offers. After the briefings, there will be an opportunity for one-on-one networking with Corps staff beginning at 12:30 p.m. until 3 p.m.

While the event will be attended by 60 small businesses, 15 large businesses will also attend. 

"This event not only provides small businesses the chance to meet with Corps staff, but it also allows businesses to network with other businesses,” said Gene Snyman, Small business program manager, “This may lead to subcontracting and partnering opportunities with businesses that currently hold contracts with the Corps."

The Tulsa District has a longstanding history of commitment to utilizing small businesses. In Fiscal Year 2012, Tulsa District awarded more than $414 million in contracts to small, disadvantaged, veteran-owned, or women-owned businesses.
