Fort Gibson announces winter campground operations

TULSA, Okla. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District announces winter campground operations for Fort Gibson Lake, Oct. 8.

Rocky Point Campground and Taylor Ferry South Campground will remain open during the winter on a first-come, first-served basis. Campsites with no electric or water hookups are $14 per night. Sites with electric and water hookups are $18 per night. Campsites with 50 amp electric hookups and water are $20 per night.

Flat Rock Campground and Blue Bill Campground

Flat Rock Campground and Blue Bill Campgrounds will be closed to camping and boat launching from Dec. 1, 2014 to Feb. 28, 2015. Park entrances will be closed to vehicles. Visitors may gain access to the park on foot for shoreline fishing, nature walks and light, day-use activities. Shower and toilet facilities will be locked but a concrete vault toilet is available to walk-in day users.

Damsite South

Damsite South will be closed to camping from Nov. 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015. Water and electric service will be turned off at campsites during the winter closure. Park gates will remain open for boat launching and day-use activities.

Wildwood Campground

Wildwood will be closed to camping from Jan. 1, 2015 to Feb. 28, 2015. Park gates will remain open for boat launching. Water and electric service will be turned off at campsites during the winter closure. The shower and toilet facilities will be locked but a concrete vault toilet is available for walk-in day-use.

Seasonal closures align with the Corps of Engineers' efforts to manage recreation resources efficiently while minimizing negative impacts to visitors.
