Roadway over Pine Creek Dam to close for repairs

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that the roadway across the Pine Creek Dam embankment, Tommy Taylor Trail, will close to traffic at 8:00 a.m., Monday, February 2, 2015 for modification of the dam and outlet works. The bridge will reopen approximately May 2016.

The bridge is located approximately eight miles north of Valliant, Okla. in McCurtain County.

Heeter Construction, Inc. will be starting construction of the modification of the dam and outlet works.  The modification will include construction of a work platform on the dam, and installation of a cutoff wall, chimney filter, downstream invert filter, and steel liner inside the conduit.  Construction is set to begin with the work platform February, 2015.  Construction will continue with installation of the cutoff wall, chimney filter, and steel liner; and conclude with installation of the downstream invert filter. 

Motorists may use alternate detour routes of Rufe Road or 40,000 Haul Road. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time.
