TULSA, Okla. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District announces winter campground operations for Tenkiller Ferry Lake to take effect Dec. 1, 2014.
Designated campsites will provide electrical service and a potable water source centrally located at the campground. Campsites are available on a first-come-first-served basis during the winter season.
The Lake Tenkiller project office will close Snake Creek, Chicken Creek, Elk Creek, Pettit Bay II and Strayhorn Landing, Dec. 1, 2014. The Tenkiller project office will reopen the campgrounds, March 1, 2015.
Cookson Bend campground will have a limited number of campsites available during the winter season.
Pettit Bay I, Carters Landing and Sizemore Landing will remain open throughout the winter.
The winter camping rate is $13 to $15 per night. During winter operations, Golden Age, Access, and America the Beautiful cardholders receive a 50 percent discount. Individuals may purchase Access and America the Beautiful passes in-person at the Bureau of Land Management Office in Tulsa or at Judge Parker’s Courthouse in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The Recreation.gov website sells passes online at
www.recreation.gov.
