SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

LOCK 18 LOWER APPROACH NM 421.2 TO 421.4

Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting the downstream approach to Lock 18, RM 421.2 to 421.4.  Channel width has been restored to 110-ft through the lower approach, however, shoaling is encroaching the left descending channel therefore vessels should favor the green side of channel and hug the right descending wall transiting the lower approach. Upbound doubles may still experience difficulties with adequate depths when maneuvering lightboat around barges on that left descending side within lower approach.

Waterway users are asked to check with Lock No. 18 for the latest information.  Questions or request for additional information concerning this notice should be directed to Mr. Kenneth Todd; Deputy Operation Project Manager:  918-607-0951 or Mr. Jacob Simpson; Navigation Field Engineer:  918-430-4783.
