Swimming Beaches and Courtesy Docks are closed!
Friday, August 09, 2013

The swimming beaches and courtesy docks are closed due to high water levels! Updated 8/13/13.

Currently Oologah lake is still 11.14 feet above it's normal elevation of 638.00'.

Due to the high lake levels at Oologah Lake the following facilities are closed:

- Blue Creek boat ramp.

- The fishing docks in Hawthorn Bluff Campground.

- All courtesy docks at the boat ramps are closed.

- Hawthorn Bluff and Spencer Creek swimming beaches are closed.

- Some campsites are closed in Spencer Creek and Blue Creek.

We also want to encourage our visitors to use caution while boating, fishing, or swimming. Always watch children very closely around water and ensure that everyone wears a proper-fitting lifejacket. There are a number of submerged hazards in the lake during flood conditions. High lake levels can change our normal safe conditions considerably. There are numerous hidden hazards in the lake including, floating debris, partially submerged structures such as picnic tables, tops of trees or islands, and unfamiliar drop-offs along the shoreline.

Oologah Lake Office encourages you to contact a member of our staff with any questions or concerns. Our office telephone number is 918-443-2250, or you can re-visit this webpage for periodic updates.

Verdigris River Park Closure
Friday, October 24, 2014
The Corps, Oologah Lake Office recently received funding to repair portions of the rip rap in the Verdigris River Outlet Channel below Oologah Dam. Consequently, while work is underway there will be no access to the boat ramp below the dam and the south side of the park will be temporarily closed during the construction process.  We anticipate that the work will begin as soon as the lake level returns to normal and we are no longer releasing water below the dam.  The work consists of the following: outlet channel rehabilitation, bank stabilization and some roadway improvements. The Corps is currently making good progress on this initiative while striving to accomplish the subject work with limited impact to the visiting public. Any necessary temporary closures or change to the availability of services will continue to be communicated to the public throughout the process.
