  • Keystone Dam Safety Modification Study Public Open House Workshops & 30-day Comment Period

    30 Day comment period for Keystone Dam Safety Modification Study begins March 6, 2024 and runs through April 5, 2024 Public open house workshops will be held March 13 and 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Keystone State Park Community Center 1926 S Highway 151 Sand Springs, OK 74063. This project would raise the height of the Keystone Dam to reduce the risk of overtopping during significant flooding events. This would require the raising of the dam embankments and Highway 151, and the reconstruction of the stilling basin below Keystone Dam.
  • Public Notice Red River Chloride 30 day comment period, public informational meeting

    The Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers established a 30-day public comment period related to closure of the Red River Chloride Control Project in four Texas counties and will host two public meetings to provide an overview of the purpose and scope of the study. The USACE will host informational, open-house style meetings at the Red River Authority of Texas offices in Wichita Falls, Texas, Feb. 26 from 5-8 p.m. and at the Kingston High School cafeteria, Kingston, Oklahoma, Feb. 27 from 5-8 p.m.

  • Notice of Availability of the Beta Streamflow Duration Assessment Methods for the Northeast and Southeast

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Baltimore, Buffalo, Charleston, Chicago, Detroit, Fort Worth, Galveston, Huntington, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Little Rock, Louisville, Memphis, Mobile, Nashville, New England, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Savannah, St. Louis, Tulsa, Vicksburg, and Wilmington Districts, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 jointly announce the availability of the Beta Streamflow Duration Assessment Methods (SDAM) for the Northeast and Southeast (dated April 12, 2023). The methods are rapid assessment tools to help distinguish between ephemeral, intermittent, and perennial streamflow at the reach scale for the Northeast and Southeast SDAM Regions. The beta SDAMs may help provide technical guidance for identifying waters that may be subject to regulatory jurisdiction under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act; however, these methods do not alter or change the definition of “Waters of the U.S.”

    The application is for the placement of dredged or fill material into the Illinois River. Phase 1 of the proposed project consists of a temporary work platform using gabion wall baskets and riprap. Phase 2 of the proposed project would install backfill rock riprap and retaining wall consisting of concrete using soldier pile wall along the Illinois River. Soldier piled walls are a form of embedded retaining wall that are used to retain the soil behind to allow the ground level in front of the wall to be lowered, the retained height can be increased with the use of propping or anchoring. A temporary buoy system would be used for public safety.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District announced today that the Lakeside Recreation Area at Lake Texoma will temporarily close Monday, May 11 beginning at 6:00 a.m. and lasting up to eight hours for work to enhance the BNSF railroad crossing over Streetman Road.

  • Environmental Assessment - Waurika Lake Water-Intake Channel Maintenance Project - Dredging, Gate Extension & Gate Replacement

    TO INTERESTED PARTIES The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Planning and Environmental Center and the Tulsa District, in coordination with the Waurika Lake Master Conservancy District (WLMCD), have assessed the environmental impacts associated with the proposed maintenance dredging of the WLMCD water intake channel in Waurika Lake, Cotton, Stephens, and Jefferson Counties, Oklahoma. Proposed activities include pumping and storage of dredge material to a confined disposal facility on WLMCD property, replacement of lower gates on the WLMCD intake structure, and installation of an intake pipe extension and floating intake. These proposed alterations/modifications are operation and maintenance responsibilities of the non-Federal sponsor, the WLMCD, and will be implemented at no cost to the federal government.
  • Draft Environmental Assessment water transmission pipeline in Yukon, Oklahoma

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Planning and Environmental Center, in coordination with the City of Yukon, Oklahoma, has assessed the environmental impacts associated with the proposed construction of 1.35 miles of 12” water transmission pipeline, a water storage tank facility, and the replacement of sanitary sewer lines within the City of Yukon, Canadian County, Oklahoma. The project purpose is to improve the existing City of Yukon water supply distribution system to meet current and future demand, and to replace aging infrastructure in a 40-year old residential development. This is a Water Resource Development Authority Section 219 (Environmental Infrastructure) Project, which was authorized in the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2001 in Section 108. The City of Yukon, Oklahoma is the local sponsor for this proposed project.
